As traitors and faithfuls gather at Ardross Castle to film the next series of The Traitors, contestants and viewers alike eagerly await the breakfast room ritual with its buffet spread. But nestled amongst the pastries and fruit, a real traitor to Scotland’s environment lurks: farmed salmon.

Wild Atlantic salmon have been in such a dangerous decline for the past quarter-century that they are now endangered. A major cause of the decline of this magnificent fish has been salmon farming, polluting the waters that wild salmon depend on with parasites, disease, chemicals and escaped farmed salmon that interbreed with wild populations.
